One on One
One on One is a very unique competition where one site goes up against just one other site each week.
Founded:
February, 2005
Founded by:
The Webmaster
Opening Date:
February 14, 2005
Reason Opened:
To create a web competition format in which a website is only competing against one other website. This format had been originally used in the early days of The Web Leagues Competition in 2003, but they had then changed to a more 'normal' style of competing.
VE or NVE:
Vote Exchange
Slogan:
" Are You Up To It?"
Original Ideas:
The main competition is an original idea in the way that it is run. The following are also original ideas: uses a member ranking system, A member never has to retire, no matter how many wins they have, the comp lists the members stats-when started, wins, losses and ties, and finally a member can Challenge a non-member to compete for one week without that non-member joining.
History:
The Webmaster originally competed very successfully at "TSF" for 3 years as "The 40's & 50's Coffee Shoppe". After a fallout with "TopDog", The Webmaster was one of the founding members of The Emperor's Gate and was known as Lord Kai Rong Xu. After 2 years as the head of approvals, the Webmaster decided to open a web competiton that was as different from all the rest as he could. "One on One" appeals to competitors who do not have the time to vote all day and do not want such things as teams, spirit pages and the features other web competitions have.
One on one, sadly, was shut down in November of 2007 due to health issues that the owner was having.
Still Running?:
No, One on One is no longer running.
